Grow Technician

- Salary: $16.00 /hour
The Grow Technician, under the direction of the Master Grower and/or Alternate Master Grower, is primarily responsible for the day-to-day production and harvesting of cannabis plants. This position will properly trim and prune the cannabis plants while adhering to strict organization policies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Trim and prune cannabis plants for plant maintenance and cannabis production
- Assist in the harvesting of cannabis plants
- Perform de-stemming and monitor for plant issues including rot
- Transfer plants as needed throughout the growth and production process
- Detect, report, and control all plant health and pest problems
- Adhere to growing schedules and report deviations from established procedures to lead grower
- Clean and sanitize work area as required
- Assist in weighing and transporting cannabis throughout the production process
- Perform data entry and complete records
- Operate machinery as per standard operating procedures
- Lift plants and other materials up to 25 kilograms
- Monitor drying rooms, including temperature and humidity levels
- Comply with all relevant legislation surrounding cannabis production in accordance with the Cannabis Act
- Adhere to all occupational health and safety regulations
- Other duties as assigned
ROLE REQUIREMENTS/ABILITIES
Experience / Education
- High school diploma/GED
- Cannabis or greenhouse industry experience would be considered an asset
Skills & Abilities
- Strong written & verbal communication skills with the ability to comprehend detailed instructions
- Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to work individually as well as part of a team
- Demonstrated time management skills
- Knowledge of cannabis plant composition is an asset
- High level of integrity and work ethic
- Must have own transportation as we are not on a public transportation route
Working Conditions
- Constant exposure to the smell of cannabis
- Flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Using manual dexterity repetitively
- Extended periods of stooping, bending, kneeling, standing, and walking
- Lifting, moving, or manipulating objects up to 25 kilograms
- Working in an environment subject to frequent temperature changes
- Working in rooms with High-Intensity Discharge (HID) lighting
- Overtime as required
